Customers who visit our store “Jan” often ask, “Is there a restaurant in Otsuka where you can eat crispy and delicious food by yourself?” As a restaurant owner who loves Otsuka, I would like to specially introduce some other restaurants that I personally frequent that are perfect for a solo meal.
■Mitoan (soba)
This is a small soba restaurant with just a counter, located in a back alley a short walk from Otsuka Station. Stepping in by yourself and waiting while watching the tempura being fried right in front of you is truly a luxury for adults. The thin, smooth handmade soba noodles go perfectly with the freshly fried tempura, and it’s a popular restaurant with long lines at lunchtime. This is a famous restaurant that everyone who loves soba should definitely visit.
■Western food GOTOO (Western food)
This is a long-established Western food restaurant that continues to be loved by the city of Otsuka. There are many elegant and warm Western dishes that can be eaten with chopsticks, and no matter what you eat, you will feel nostalgic and delicious. Sitting alone at a table and stuffing your mouth with a juicy hamburger or crispy fries will melt away the fatigue of the day.

Our restaurant is also conveniently located, just a 3-minute walk from the north exit of JR Otsuka Station, but it is a “hidden” yakiniku restaurant that is quietly located on the first floor of the SK Building, just off the main street.
“I love yakiniku, but going into a yakiniku restaurant alone is a bit difficult…”Some people may be hesitant. But please don’t worry. Our restaurant has a chic and calm space for adults, where you can enjoy the meat at your own pace without worrying about anyone watching you. In recent years, the number of people visiting us by themselves has been increasing, and we also welcome customers who are dining alone.

For those who want to recharge their energy in the afternoon, we recommend the Wagyu Kalbi Lunch and the Stamina Lunch (Miso Tongue, Hormone, Heart, etc.). This set includes rice (a large serving is free!), soup, and a drink, making it a great value.

Another dish that has many strong fans is Jan’s Stewed Beef Bowl (900 yen). This is our proud creation, made with cuts of Wagyu beef from various parts, sweet and spicy with a special sauce, and slowly simmered until the meat is tender and melty. It’s full of volume and will satisfy both your stomach and heart. When you want a refreshing and smooth meal, we also offer a cold noodle lunch (1,200 yen with mini bibimbap).

“Solo Yakiniku” at night is also special. At our restaurant “Jan”, we offer the highest quality A5 rank Japanese black beef at an incredibly reasonable price that is unbeatable by other restaurants.
First of all, be sure to try our “wrapped green onion top tongue”, which ranks #1 on our best-selling list. This is an artisanal dish that carefully wraps a special green onion sauce full of flavor in high-quality tongue. Even if you grill it on the grill, the green onions inside will not spill out, so if you eat it in one bite, your mouth will be filled with the juicy juices from the tongue and the sweet flavor of the steamed green onions.


For those who want to enjoy the hearty taste of meat, we highly recommend the Otokojo Kalbi (2,750 yen, tax included). The other day, we had a female customer in her 20s who came to our store alone for the first time. At first, he seemed a little nervous because he was concerned about what was going on around him, but I said, “Thank you for coming to our store today.
